The Star of the Sea Catholic Church at Kintampo Magazine was begun in 2000 in an attempt to reduce the congestion at the St. Joseph Catholic Church at Kintampo and to bring the church closer to the people living around that area.
The then Parish Priest of Kintampo, Rev. Fr. Victor Leones, SVD, secured a one and half acre land at the Magazine area for the establishment of the church. On 20th March, 2011, the new Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Ignatius Ayivor, SVD, officially announced the creation of the new church at Magazine and first Mass was celebrated there on 27th March 2011 with about 54 members at church.
Rev. Fr. Auinger Otmar was the first priest in charge of the new church until he left the country and Rev. Fr. John Bremini was appointed to take over in 2014.
