The Department of Human Development (DHD) and the Diocesan Development Office (DDO) and Caritas, of the Catholic Diocese of Techiman, have concluded the deanery level stakeholder engagements towards the formation of Caritas Techiman at the St. Paul’s Cathedral Social Center. The deanery level discussions brought together the Bishop and his Curia, Priests, Pastoral Council Members; Youth Council, Women Council and Laity Council Executives of all the parishes in the diocese, to meet at their respective deanery centers to learn about Caritas and its operations and to share their opinions towards the formation of caritas in the Diocese.
The DHD and Caritas Office of the Diocese have earmarked the whole of 2018 to interact with all stakeholders in the diocese, to educate them on the Church’s ministry of charity, and need for all Catholics to contribute to support the church in responding to human emergencies and ensuring the integral development of every human person.
The Caritas Project of the Diocese of Techiman, seeks to mobilize internally generated funds for the diocese towards making the Diocese self-reliant in this regard. The Project will, in the next five years (2019-2024), establish a Caritas Fund which will see all Catholics contributing to support the church.
The Deanery level discussions began with Kintampo Deanery, Atebubu
Deanery, Techiman Deanery (North), Nkoranza Deanery and Techiman Deanery
(South). It was well attended and well participated. Priests and laity
present got the opportunity to express their views and made wonderful
suggestions towards the establishment and sustainability of this Caritas
project.
I therefore wish, on behalf of the Bishop and the Curia, the Department
of Human Development (DHD), and the Diocesan Development Committee, to
express our sincerest gratitude to all Priests and Religious and the lay
leaders, for their great support, presence and participation in this
deanery level Stakeholder Engagements. Hopefully, all the concerns,
suggestions and clarifications that ensued in the interactions will be
put together for an informed policy towards the establishment and
sustainability of Caritas, and the mobilization of the Caritas Fund.
