The Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, the Catholic Bishop of Techiman Diocese has ordained four new priests at the St. Martin of Tours Church in Amanten. The newly ordained priests are Rev. Fr. Matthias Ackah, Rev. Fr. Richard Baatabe, Rev. Fr. Martin Kanyire Ninsaala and Rev. Fr. Felix Addo Mensah. Present at the Ordination ceremony were Priests and Religious from Techiman and Sunyani dioceses, friends and family of the newly ordained priests and Catholic Faithful from every nook and cranny of the Diocese of Techiman.
In his Homily, the Bishop, Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, congratulate the new priests and thanked all the Catholic Faithful of the diocese for their support, hard work, dedicated worship, sacrifices and generous contributions towards the growth of this diocese in the past 10 years. This year’s Priestly Ordination coincided with the 10th Anniversary celebration of the creation of the diocese. The Bishop asked them to realize that, they are coming into the priesthood ‘to participate in a ministry which the bishop, senior priests, Religious men and women and all the lay faithful, have toiled so hard to uphold.’ And so he pleaded on them to work hard to contribute their quota towards building the family of God in the diocese.
Reflecting on the readings for the occasion, the bishop, called on the newly ordained priests to know the exact ministry that their ordination was giving to them. He iterated that the anointing they were receiving was setting them apart for a very specific task: ‘to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn (Is 61:1-2); therefore ‘like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, (1 Pet. 4:10), they ought to serve the people of God with whatever gift and resources each of them has received.
