The ratios of priests to the Catholic population and that of priests and religious to the Catholic population are 1: 3,632 and 1:1,816, respectively. Given the vastness of the diocesan area with little socio-economic infrastructure, the Diocese desires to reduce these ratios to 1: 1,500 and 1:800, respectively.
To achieve these targets on vocations the Diocese will strengthen the already established Diocesan Vocations Committee and resource it to launch a comprehensive pastoral program on priestly and religious vocations.

This program will, among other things:
• Sensitize the entire Christ’s faithful or agents of evangelization in the Diocese on their respective and significant roles in the vocation ministry through regular diocesan and parish vocation drives/rallies.
• Promote activities, such as perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with an emphasis on the Church’s teachings and praying for vocations.
• Encourage priests and religious to promote vocations by their witness of life.
• Work towards reducing the attrition rate of seminarians.
Furthermore, a minor seminary will be established. In this endeavour, the Diocese will be mindful of funding challenges in running a minor seminary and also learn from the experiences of the St. Hubert and St James Minor Seminaries in Kumasi and Sunyani respectively which started as minor seminaries but later had to be handed over to the government because of funding.

Seminarians Fundraising Committee
I, Most Rev. Dominic Yeboah Nyarko, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Techiman, am pleased to appoint you, Rev. Fr. Peter Dery, priest of this Diocese, as Chairman of the Seminarians’ Fund Raising Team for the Diocese of Techiman. This appointment commences from 1st January, 2017.
This appointment has become necessary now, following the recommendation of both Senate and Consulters of the Diocese in our recent Budget meetings held at the Catholic Secretariat. Considering the increasingly huge bills we receive from our seminaries, and looking at our low financial status and limited resources, it has become necessary and extremely urgent to form this committee that will see to any alternative ways and means to raise funds to cater for these bill.
Aware of your pastoral leadership and your love for the formation of future priests, as well as your deep roots and commitment to the welfare and growth of the Catholic Diocese of Techiman, I appoint you to lead this Committee to find, evaluate and recommend effective ways to raise funds to support our seminarians.
As Chairman of this committee, it will be your esteemed responsibility to coordinate and cooperate with the other members to ensure that all the necessary policies, plans and programs are laid down to help raise funds to support the formation of priests in the diocese.
